New location: Malmö, Sweden 🇸🇪
If you've been following AzireVPN for a while, you might remember our announcement back in August about the next server location. During our summer livestream, we even hosted a giveaway to let you guess the location mentioned earlier in the stream. Many of you got it right: yes, our next server location is Malmö, Sweden!
A couple of weeks ago, on one of the final days of November, the whole AzireVPN team of four traveled from our office in Stockholm – Sweden's busy capital – to Malmö, which is just a 4,5-hour train ride away to the south.
There's something special about long distance train travel – especially when you're hauling a large suitcase filled with server equipment. Even for us at AzireVPN, visiting a data center isn’t an everyday occurrence, so we thought we’d bring you along this time to share a behind-the-scenes look at the real-life server installation process.
Malmö: Sweden’s coastal gem
Malmö is Sweden's third-largest city, after Stockholm and Gothenburg. Located on the scenic coast of the Baltic Sea, it’s just 40 kilometers from Copenhagen, Denmark. On clear days, you can even spot the taller buildings of Copenhagen across the water, connected by the iconic Öresund Bridge.
Our new servers are housed in a unique data center located in the heart of Malmö’s historic old town. Unlike the towering glass and concrete facilities typical of modern data centers, this data center truly blends into its surroundings – a charming cobblestone square filled with cafes and historic brick and timber buildings.
It was here that we met Nemo, the data center manager, who welcomed us through a large metal door and led us down to a hidden but cozy basement. While smaller than most data centers, Nemo assured us it was spacious enough to host a party of seven just last week!
The installation process went smoothly, taking just about half an hour for our technical team. Once the servers were up and running, we wrapped up our day in a typical Swedish way – with a fika (a coffee break) at a nearby coffee shop.
Why Malmö? The benefits of our new server location
Here’s why AzireVPN’s new Malmö servers are important:

VPN performance depends on proximity. With this new location, users in and around Malmö can expect faster speeds and lower latency. - Expanding our Swedish network
Following Stockholm and Gothenburg, Malmö marks our third local server location in Sweden, further strengthening our coverage in the region.
Hardware specifications
As with all AzireVPN infrastructure, our Malmö servers feature the latest VPN technology to ensure fast and secure connections:
- CPU: Intel® Xeon® E3-1270 v3

These servers run without persistent storage, they are booted via PXE, and are maintained remotely. The Malmö location supports WireGuard VPN tunnels with shared IP addresses and is available on our apps starting today.
